About

Styliani Maria (Mariliana) Zakka is a graduate of the Department of Psychology of the University of Athens (UoA), while she holds a Master's degree (MSci) in Clinical Psychology from the Hellenic American University (HAU), specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is also trained in Counseling, Career Guidance, and Mentoring. In sessions, she often uses Mindfulness and the Holistic Approach, as she is now nearing the end of her post-graduate training in The Holistic in Children's Psychology. She supports the Holistic approach, recognizing the importance of body-mind-soul balance. She also considers the practice of Mindfulness, to be a key element of the therapeutic process, helping the individual to focus on the present and cultivate awareness and tranquility. Other seminars she has attended include Positive Psychology, conducting online sessions, Sexual Disorders- Paraphilias, the National Conference of Forensic Psychology, The Application of Music Therapy in Psychotherapy, and Expressive and Creative Arts in Psychotherapy. In September 2023, she participated as a lecturer at the 1st International Regular Conference on Artistic Education for Persons with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs, focusing on music and arts therapies, her presentation topic being: "ADHD & Misophonia: Concerns, the contribution of Music Therapy and the need for the modernization of schools and the institutional framework". She strongly believes that, through various art forms, individuals can express feelings and thoughts they may not be able to verbalize, thus achieving deeper self-awareness and therapeutic development. In recent years she has been working as a self-employed Clinical Psychologist, providing services in Greek and English, having acquired experience through her work with centers: PERSEAS - NEFES, Counseling Center of the Hellenic American College, and Roots Wellness Center. She has a network of collaborators (e.g., Psychiatrists) for times when a case is beyond her expertise.
